The North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN), a statewide advocacy group focused on improving the lives of women, has named Kristie Wolff as its new Executive Director.
“We are very pleased to have Kristie Wolff join NDWN,” said Amy Jacobson, chair of the NDWN board of directors. “Kristie’s leadership skills, as well as her extensive experience in marketing, grassroots education, advocacy, and coalition work, will be great assets to the important work we do.”
Wolff said she found her true passion when she began working in the nonprofit sector, where she has spent nearly half of her career. Most recently, she managed a tobacco prevention program at a statewide nonprofit, where a primary focus of her work was public education and policy regarding emerging tobacco products and nicotine use among youth. Wolff was instrumental in the passing of a state law in 2015 that restricted North Dakota minors from purchasing electronic cigarettes.
NDWN advocates for legislation that affects women, including policies related to education, economic equality, health care access, domestic violence and non-discrimination. The group increases public activism by offering Ready to Run, an event to boost women’s representation in elected and appointed office, as well as advocacy training such as WE Rise, a women’s lobby day at the capital. NDWN also facilitates communication on issues that affect women through monthly casual gatherings, called Feminist First Friday, in eight cities across the state.
“Since its inception 11 years ago, NDWN has been a catalyst for encouraging women’s leadership, opportunity and equality.” Jacobson said. “While we’ve made progress in many areas, there is more to be done. Our members are excited to see the next chapter of this critical work unfold under Kristie’s leadership.”
Wolff will work out of the NDWN office in Bismarck. In her spare time, Wolff enjoys reading, music and spending time with her two sons and her husband Jeremy.
NDWN is a non-partisan, membership-based non-profit organization. For more information and to become a member, visit ndwomen.org or contact Wolff at email@example.com.
