Legislative Update Week 9

Week 9 of the Legislative Session

Click here for the updated tracking grid. The Legislature returned from crossover on Wednesday. There were few actions that took place on the bills we followed. Next week looks to be a busier week.

Our bill to get a report on the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women, House Bill 1405, will be heard on Monday. NDWN will testify in support. The report will provide some much needed transparency to this valuable commission so that citizens can engage in the work. Contact Senate Industry, Business, and Labor committee members to ask for a do pass recommendation.

In addition to the Commission on the Status of Women bill, there are many bills up next week pertaining to violence against women issues, including a domestic violence court pilot project, sex offender accountability, and implementation of Marsy’s Law (constitutional amendment regarding victim’s rights).
